DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Rochester Institute of Technology’s Department of Economics invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning mid-August, 2014. We are looking for a teacher/scholar with research interests in behavioral/experimental economics .We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to our growing relationships with other disciplines at RIT such as Political Science, Psychology, Public Policy, and Sustainability. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in the candidate’s field of specialization and principles of micro and/or macroeconomics as well as other courses as needed by the department.

THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT:
The College of Liberal Arts is one of nine colleges within Rochester Institute of Technology. The College has over 150 faculty members in 12 departments in the social sciences, humanities, and the arts. The College currently offers 12 undergraduate degree programs and 5 Master’s degree programs serving over 800 students. The Department of Economics comprises 11 full-time faculty members who strongly value both research and teaching. The Department offers a B.S.in economics. Undergraduate students are encouraged to undertake collaborative research projects with faculty, some of which are published in refereed journals. The undergraduate program also values interdisciplinarity in faculty research and in the curriculum; in this regard, the Department has as many double majors as solo Economics majors.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of Ph.D. in Economics prior to the date of hire. Possession of research interests in behavioral/experimental economics. Some teaching experience, including work as a Teaching Assistant. Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
