Salary: Commensurate with ExperienceRequired Qualifications: Ph.D. in Visual Culture Studies, Cinema Studies, New Media Studies, or a related field (must be completed August 2014). We seek a scholar whose research and teaching is grounded in the history and theory of digital media with an emphasis on visual culture.
Preferred Qualifications: Fluent in critical theory, theories of visuality, and comparative media studies with proven research and teaching in the following areas: histories of the digital image and technology; emergent and experimental media formats, particularly cinematic and post-cinematic forms; and media archaeology. Previous training in critical race/ethnic studies, post-colonial critique, and/or transnationalism and globalization.
Responsibilities & Requirements: The candidate will be expected to teach a large-lecture in the department's Cinema and Cultural Studies major as well as upper-division undergraduate courses based upon the candidate's areas of specialization and a graduate seminar.
Special Notes: This is a tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated start date: September 2014. Preliminary phone or video interviews will be conducted in January. Finalists will be invited to campus in late January and early February 2014.
