Tenure-Track; Advanced Manufacturing Faculty Position

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Oakland University invites applications for a tenure track position in the area of advanced manufacturing. The appointment would begin in August 2014.
Although the open position is at the Assistant Professor level, candidates with more experience may be considered at a more senior level. We seek applicants with research and teaching interests in advanced manufacturing topics such as metal forming, stamping, casting and injection molding of plastics. Successful candidates will be expected to develop an eternally funded research program of national prominence that includes fundamental and/or applied research. The candidate will take a leadership role in the development of advanced manufacturing programs and courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. An earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required with a recent history or strong potential of external funding and successful teaching abilities in manufacturing related courses.
The Mechanical Engineering Department has 16 full time faculty members who are dedicated to excellence in research, teaching and service. The department hosts four centers: Chrysler Learing and Innovation Center for Sheet Metal Forming, Fastening and Joining Research Institute, Automotive Tribology Center and the Clean Energy Research Center all of which are active in research. Oakland University is a public institution, located in southeastern Michigan, at the intellectual center of the Automotive Industry. In addition, the area offers many social, cultural and recreational activites.
