St. Catherine University is a Catholic comprehensive university with the nation’s largest college for women at its center. Located in the vibrant Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, St. Catherine enrolls approximately 5,000 students in three colleges; the College for Women, the Graduate College and the College for Applied and Continuing Learning. At all degree levels--associate, baccalaureate, masters and clinical doctorate--St. Catherine integrates liberal arts and professional education within the Catholic tradition, emphasizing intellectual inquiry and social teaching, and challenging students to transformational leadership.
In collaboration with, and reporting to, the Senior Vice President & Chief Academic Officer, the Dean is a key strategic leader. Academic departments in the School of Business and Professional Studies (http://www.stkate.edu/schools/sbl/index.php) offer bachelor’s degree programs of study in business, sales, apparel, merchandising and design, communication, economics, and education and graduate degrees in business, education, organizational leadership, and library and information science. The Dean initiates and maintains productive relationships with external and corporate partners; oversees curricular and faculty development; ensures academic quality; prepares and monitors budgets; and leads efforts to develop new programs that respond to the market and emerging initiatives in areas relevant to the school of business and professional studies. Within the context of the integrated university, the Dean of Business and Professional Studies works collaboratively with the faculty and the Deans’ Council to advance the University mission and to achieve the academic goals of Vision 2020, the University’s Strategic Plan.
The Dean demonstrates active commitment to the University’s Catholic identity and to the values of the college for women at its heart. S/He will be a strong advocate for professional programs within a liberal arts framework. The Dean will advance the St. Catherine University mission through a genuine commitment to diversity and through careful leadership in faculty appointments, promotion and tenure.

The successful candidate will hold a doctorate or appropriate terminal degree complementary to at least one of the disciplines represented in the School. S/He must possess outstanding interpersonal and creative problem-solving skills, evidence of a collaborative leadership style, demonstrated success in cultivating and maintaining productive strategic partnerships, and an appreciation for productive relationships within faculty governance structures.
