Widener University’s Office of Athletics is currently seeking candidates for a Head Football Coach vacancy to be responsible for all aspects of the football program to include; recruitment/retention, campus integration, supervising an effective staff of assistant coaches, budget management and supporting student-athlete success in accordance with department/college/MAC/NCAA rules and regulations. Additional duties may include an administrative responsibility and teaching in our Physical Education program.
The Head Football Coach position is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position which reports to the Director of Athletics.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree; three years of coaching experience at the high school level or above; a strong commitment to the Student-Athlete concept; thorough knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student athletes; as well as budgeting, organizational, and communication skills.
Preference will be given to candidates who have Master’s degree in a related field; five years of coaching experience at the collegiate level; experience with the operation of a summer camp, alumni cultivation and fund-raising; and demonstrated success in building a successful football program. A successful record of collegiate coaching and recruiting is highly desirable.
