The Center for Talent Development (CTD) at Northwestern University is dedicated to helping gifted children, age 4 through grade 12, reach full potential. Our Gifted LearningLinks (GLL) provides online courses to academically talented students from all over the country and world who are seeking rigorous, engaging courses they may otherwise not be able to take in their area or with their schedules.
GLL instructors are responsible for teaching challenging material via a course management system (CMS) and by utilizing current web tools. GLL students often accelerate through the curriculum, and instructors are expected to respond to students within 24-48 hours.
Currently we are hiring for our 2014-15 academic year: All positions are teaching online between June 1, 2014 through August 31, 2015
- World Religion Honors
- Introduction to Philosophy Honors
These courses are to be designed to align with Common Core Standards and appropriately differentiated for gifted students.

Temporary Job Description:
Compensation is $300 per student for a two-semester course plus an additional stipend for course development. We offer individualized technical support and professional development for effective online instruction.
These courses will begin August 15 and run the duration of the 2014-2015 school year. Teaching opportunities for additional courses may be available.
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree and /or experience working with the academically high achieving population preferred. Teaching Certification preferred. Instructors should be subject matter experts and experienced in classroom communication and management. Instructors need to be adept at using multiple teaching strategies, assessing student needs and progress, and differentiating instruction for the varied abilities of gifted learners. Experience with online learning a plus.
