The Stanford Center for Assessment, Learning and Equity (SCALE) in the Graduate School of Education, seeks a Research Assistant to support the work of student and/or teacher assessment in California and across the nation.
Duties and responsibilities:
15%: Assist in writing reports, papers and grant proposals
25%: Support data collection, both quantitative (scores, survey responses) as well as qualitative methods (interviews, document and literature review), in support of multiple research projects
40%: Provide clerical/administrative support for project management as well as professional development events including training, scoring and benchmarking activities. Assist in supporting the SCALE website, including updating, refreshing and uploading content pertaining to all SCALE projects.
20%: Support facilitation of professional development events and provide technical assistance to client organizations.
Proficiency and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT). Demonstrated analytic writing ability and ability to write and speak in clear and accessible language. Experience with either quantitative or qualitative research (or both), with preference for research related to education, children, or educational settings. Ability to work independently and collaboratively and initiate solutions to problems. Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines for multiple projects.
Prefer candidates with previous experience with performance assessments, publications/grant writing and/or teaching experience, as well as a BA or advanced degree in a specific core content field (English, Science, History/Social Science or Mathematics).
1-2 years relevant experience required; 2-3 years preferred.
This is a one year fixed term position.
