Duties/Responsibilities: The department of Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature occasionally needs lecturers or teaching specialists to teach courses that cannot be staffed by regular faculty or CSCL graduate students. These positions are temporary and part-time. This search will establish a "pool" of instructors. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis through academic year. These courses may be for day or evening. Position title and salary vary according to qualifications and funding. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. Positions will be appointed for the 2014-15 academic year: Fall semester 2014 (08/25/14-01/07/15), Spring semester 2015 (01/08/14 - 05/24/15) or May/Summer term 2015. Duties:Teaching undergraduate students in assigned course(s). Holding office hours to assist and advise students. Participate in department meetings and service to the department.
Required/Preferred Qualifications: Required: M.A. (or foreign M.A. equivalent) in a relevant discipline, and at least one year of post baccalaureate teaching experience in the humanities, social sciences, or related fields. Detailed and extensive knowledge of history, theory, and social context of the fields to be taught, and familiarity with Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature curricula.Preferred: Ph.D. or MFA and two years' teaching experience at the collegiate level in relevant disciplinary fields with documented evidence of teaching excellence. Applicants with an M.A. will be appointed at the rank of Teaching Specialist. Those with a Ph.D. and/or those who have successfully defended their dissertation and have officially submitted the final draft of the dissertation to the relevant PhD granting institution (e.g., the graduate school) will be appointed at the rank of Lecturer.
