| ||Departmental Overview |
| ||This position will serve full-time on the SIS Replacement project team concentrating student advising and degree audit. The analyst will participate in business process design, system requirement gathering, configuration and set-up, data conversion, testing and rollout of advising and degree audit solutions in Oracle/PeopleSoft Campus Solutions technology. The new SIS will transform the student services experience from a highly fragmented delivery model to an integrated, efficient and seamless experience in both core offices and across college and department advising offices on campuses. |
Responsibilities will involve analyzing large-scale business processes and problems; developing solutions involving the use of computer systems, information flow and architecture; creating specifications for systems to meet requirements; validating requirements against needs; designing details of automated systems; developing user interface design; planning and executing unit integration and acceptance testing. Serving as a subject matter expert in the area of student advising and degree audit, the analyst may work on cross-functional teams to solve complex business or systems issues. The analyst will work collaboratively with campus student service providers, database and user interface technical partners, external consultants, and representative system end-users to deliver a comprehensive and dynamic SIS to meet the advising and degree audit requirements identified throughout the project. The position requires expertise in data management, metadata, and web services, with an ability to distill complex requirements in a meaningful way. This work provides ample opportunity to practice a wide range of business analysis, teamwork and facilitation skills.

| ||ANALYSIS |
*Applies technical expertise and business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define complex systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements
*Analyzes existing disparate source systems for related student financial data to understand the business processes, map data flow, and synthesize data output to achieve project goals
*Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system logic difficulties as necessary
SYSTEM DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
*Provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing complex systems and procedures
*Creates complex specifications for systems to meet user requirements
*Validates requirements against needs
*Applies business systems concepts to design details of complex automated systems
*Plans and executes unit integration and acceptance testing
*Develops complex processes and workflows; creates prototypes, incorporates feedback and designs next iteration. Conveys specific requirement to technical designers/programmers.
*Participates in cross-functional teams to identify, assess, and solve complex business or systems issues
*Conducts needs assessment and feedback interviews, focus groups and surveys
*Guides and advises functional administrators, project sponsors, and stakeholders on best practices and optimal solutions within system constraints
*Writes documentation. May participate in developing and presenting user support tools and training
| ||Required Qualifications |
| || Thorough knowledge of business analysis function. |
Experience assessing, designing, and implementing business processes and procedures by leveraging technology for optimal effectiveness.
Ability to quickly understand business process issues and able to gather the necessary information to document business/technical requirements in an evolving end-user environment.
Experience translating business information requirements into logical data models, diagrams, and use cases.
Experience creating mock-ups and iterations.
Ability to develop test plans and execute end-user testing in a systematic way.
Experience designing reports to support and facilitate operational workflows and the detection of data integrity issues and system errors.
Knowledge relating to the design of relational databases, enterprise financial systems, and applications programs.
Ability to write queries to extract, integrate, and analyze data.
Knowledge of student services and student systems, admissions, registration, enrollment, financial aid, student accounts, advising, and/or reporting.Experience working with complex data management and reporting systems.
Understanding of data reconciliation and data integrity validation.
Experience conducting research, analyzing trends and developing meaningful performance metrics.
Requires skills associated with analysis of processes and problems and information flow
Requires interpersonal and communications skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and common desktop/web applications.
Ability to manage responsibilities independently to conclusion.
Ability to work cooperatively with a team.
Strong time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems
Ability to make appropriate and well-reasoned recommendations and decisions in support of system users and stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
