| ||The new Campus Shared Services Center (CSS) supports the administration of Business and Finance Services, Information Technology, Research Administration, and Human Resources for the UC Berkeley campus. CSS is committed to developing a culture in which employees are actively engaged in the work, mission, and vision of the organization and of UC Berkeley. |
The Campus Shared Services (CSS) implementation project is part of UC Berkeley's Operational Excellence effort, a multi-year, multi-project effort to make the operations of UC Berkeley more efficient so that the University may direct more resources away from administrative expenses and toward teaching and research. CSS Business & Financial Services provides purchasing, reimbursement and recharge support to the campus. The position (7 within the department) oversees a team of 15-20, ensuring work is transacted according to the policies and procedures of CSS, develops and maintains relationships with assigned supported units, and ensures the highest standards of customer service.

| || Manages and directs the work of a section /department. |
Assumes responsibility for quality and quantity of work.
Recommends hiring of new employees, transfers, promotions, salary actions, terminations, and performance management.
Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the function.
Participates in the development and monitoring of policies and procedures for financial data management.
May supervise the maintenance of one or more accounting/financial systems.
Ensures the accuracy, control and reporting of financial data.
Meets all government reporting and auditing requirements for related financial activities.
Ensures adherence to cash and payment handling policies and procedures.
| ||Required Qualifications |
| || Management experience and ability to effectively lead a large team. |
Experience with personnel management.
Must be able to develop and lead a high performance team.
Excellent customer service orientation and skills and ability to lead a team in the same.
Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision-making.
Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with a diverse group of staff, students, faculty and external customers.
Working knowledge of financial processes, University policies and procedures, and ability to interpret and apply to individual situations.
Flexibility to work in a fast changing environment
Knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office and common desktop/web applications, as well as BearBuy (procure to pay system) and travel & entertainment reimbursement.
Must be able to work effectively with frequent interruptions.
Must be able to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Skills to provide coaching and mentoring to support staff.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
