| ||Departmental Overview |
| ||Physical Plant-Campus Services is comprised of seven separate units which include: the Director' Office, Business and Information Services, Campus Facilities Services, Custodial Services, Grounds/Recycling, Engineering/Utilities and Support Services. Physical Plant's mission is to continuously improve facility services for the campus community in partnership with clients and staff. This position, under moderate supervision, performs a variety of duties related to the servicing and dispatching of automotive vehicles and mechanical equipment |
| ||Responsibilities |
| ||60% A. AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN |
Grease and change oil and filters for all types of University automotive vehicles and mechanical equipment. Assist the Automotive Technician in performing repairs to University automotive equipment, such as autos, trucks, refuse compactors, grounds maintenance equipment, generators, pumps, etc. Assist the Automotive Technician with removing, replacing and new installation of various after-market accessories on vehicles and equipment, i.e. rear view mirrors, back-up alarms, tool boxes, ladder racks, trailer hitch components, etc. Drive and operate University service truck for service and breakdown calls, as needed. Change and repair flat tires for all University vehicles.
30% B. MAINTENANCE DUTIES
Clean garage and yard areas. Wash cars, trucks, and other University equipment and drive vehicles to and from various sites for washing and cleaning. Perform vehicle check-ins and maintenance inspections. Pick up parts and materials for equipment as needed. Deliver and pick-up vehicles and/or equipment to/from various service vendors. Assist w/recording onto maintenance records all service maintenance and repairs performed on any vehicle and/or piece of equipment.
5%. C. SAFETY
Adhere to all university and departmental safety guidelines. Attend job- related and safety training as required.
5% D. OTHER
Perform other duties as assigned.
| ||Required Qualifications |
| ||-Ability and knowledge to make minor automotive and equipment repairs. |
-Ability and knowledge to drive all types of automotive vehicles and equipment, including automobiles, trucks, grounds equipment refuse vehicles and other class C required vehicles
-Ability to operate hand and power tools common to the automotive maintenance industry
-Must possess excellent communication skills and ability to interact in a positive manner with PPCS staff, vendors, etc.
