| ||The Graduate School of Journalism -- informally known as the J-School -- offers a two-year professional master's degree for approximately 110 students who specialize in print, radio, television, photography, multimedia and documentary film. The J-School has a stimulating intellectual environment and is considered an international leader in journalism education. |
| ||Responsibilities |
| || Pursues empirical data, research and market knowledge in order to develop a strategic plan for programs, events, and activities which produce net positive revenue generation |
Responsible for developing, reconciling & overseeing P&L for positive net revenue; manages revenue & expense budget, make adjustments as required to maintain fiscal solvency
Seeks sponsors, partnerships as needed
Develops a marketing communications plan across multiple platforms, in digital & print establishing brand consistency and maximizing repeat participants
Writes /develops all content for all marketing collaterals, campaigns, web, blogs, brochures, ads, social networks, or sponsorships
Seeks out creative outlets to promote programs and establishes metrics so that goals are reached
Builds & manages relationships with outside contractors including graphic designers, web developers, printers, and others for print & digital collaterals
Creates an ecommerce platform with current website, using most recent IUX and SEO strategies. Design new website with features concurrent with programming goals, branding, technology, viewing platforms, and search and user functionality
Based on strategic plan, conceptualizes, schedules & implements revenue-generating programs for the Graduate School of Journalism
Develops a qualified community of instructors and guest speakers; negotiates compensation, schedule, and performance standards with instructors. Establishes contractor compensation schedules
Oversees the development of curriculum and support services to meet the needs of the
program and participants
Coordinates space, materials and equipment for programs, consulting with faculty, and staff to minimize impact on J School community and provide value to the graduate students.
Manage daily operations of programs
Develops staffing plan for anticipated growth of additional new programs. Hires, trains and supervises new hires. May mentor less experienced staff members
Collaborates with Campus Shared Services on Human Resource issues for direct reports
Responds to constituent inquiries. Sells programs to potential customers/clients
Attends events and speaks as requested to promote programs
Communicates programing to internal and external constituencies

Advanced knowledge of assigned area of responsibility, for example, the campus scientific community.
Advanced knowledge of issues of concern in higher education.
Advanced knowledge of practices and procedures associated with building and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external constituencies.
Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including skill to produce information that is appropriately presented and effectively received by target constituencies.
Active listening skills, including advanced critical thinking and analytical skills.
Skill to recognize potential areas of constituency concern and address, resolve and/or mitigate problems or issues.
Advanced project management skills, including skills to plan and implement successful events.

Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
