The Campus Shared Services Center (CSS) supports the administration of Business and Finance Services, Information Services Technology, and Human Resources/Academic Personnel Support for the UC Berkeley campus. CSS is committed to developing a culture in which employees are actively engaged in the work, mission, and vision of the organization and of UC Berkeley.
This position involves recommending, developing, implementing, administering, coordinating, and/or evaluating Human Resources policies, labor contracts, statutes, programs and procedures with relation to new hire onboarding. Independently performs a variety of HR tasks with frequently changing and competing priorities. Provides analyses for human resources issues that are intermediate in scope involving new hire onboarding, employee benefits, and may deliver employee benefits orientation sessions for CSS. Provides project support for CSS HR Generalists and staff related to new hire onboarding. Coordinates HR processes within CSS and looks for creative possibilities for continuous improvement of day-to-day operations of Evans Hall.
As part of the CSS HR/APS HRIS team, this position's primary emphasis involves recommending, developing, implementing, administering, coordinating, and/or evaluating Human Resources policies, labor contracts, statutes, programs and procedures covering several of the following: recruitment, compensation, employee relations, labor relations, payroll, benefits, welfare programs, training and development, visa procurement, intercampus transfers, and employee services. This position will work to resolve client issues and close out resolutions once the resolution has been achieved while providing exceptional service to meet customer needs and ensures each action is handled with confidentiality, timeliness, accuracy and sensitivity.

Enters employee information into Human Capital Management system for new hires, change of status, terminations, etc, ensuring that the data is correct and consistent.
Provides employees with standard information regarding department and organizational HR practices and procedures.
May maintain records for equal employment opportunity and affirmative action reporting requirements
Consults with Generalists and CSS managers when working on non-routine issues of complex or sensitive nature.
Ensures Audits for employee information and appointment information are done accurately and promptly
Responsible for individual workload and time management with respect to work completion. This includes making workload decisions as needed and escalating insufficient/excessive work situations.
Satellite Office Management
Staffs satellite locations and supports operations of the satellite locations
Responsibilities include completing new hire packets with new employees and explaining University policies.
Assisting any drop-ins at Evans Hall regarding the full range of benefits including retirement eligibility; payroll questions; leaves and accruals; and other general and more complex employee issues and concerns.
Responsible for placing supplies orders at Evans Hall including Benefits packets and union contracts
Responsible for consistently providing operational improvement ideas and supporting their execution.
Provide daily support to Gen 2 responsible for Evans Hall
Supports in the seasonal planning and execution of Evans Hall
Trains new hires on day to day processes of Evans Hall and employment law procedures
Supports staffing of Evans Hall with student schedules and additional support if needed

Advanced knowledge of HR processes and procedures for maintenance and purging of personnel files
General knowledge of benefits eligibility requirements
