Lower School Lead Teachers are responsible for instruction in literacy, math, and social studies. These teachers facilitate hands-on projects, promote collaboration among students, and prompt students to reflect on their classroom work. In addition, teachers are attuned to the specific learning needs as well as the social and emotional development of each student.
This faculty member will join a growth-oriented, collaborative learning community committed to the School’s mission and vision, including core values of inclusivity and service. Reports to: Head of Lower School
Teaching experience at the elementary level and an advanced degree are preferred. A demonstrated understanding of constructivist theory and practice, integrated studies, Responsive Classroom, Readers and Writer’s Workshop, Math in Focus, and assessment practices based on learning goals will allow strong candidates to readily implement the hallmarks of the Westminster Lower School program going forward.
