Residential and Student Service Programs (RSSP) is part of the Division of Student Affairs under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor of RSSP. RSSP provides student housing, residential life programs, selfoperated dining services for undergraduate and graduate students and their families, and child care services for students, faculty, and staff; it also conducts a year-round conference, business, operates eleven campus restaurants, and manages twenty six faculty apartments. The Central Maintenance, Design, and Minor Capital Projects units provide a comprehensive group of
services to all units within RSSP. These services include performing or managing all building trades and related maintenance services, performing interior design services, space planning, renovation project planning and management services, major maintenance, minor capital planning and project management for RSSP.
Involves managing the design, construction, operations coordination, and close-out of projects, including renewal, refresh, infrastructure, site work, and interior space renovations; collect, develop, and analyze technical data to determine project requirements and preparation of information regarding specifications, materials, equipment, estimated costs, and completion times.
Manages smaller projects from the planning and design phase, through the close out process. Includes but not limited to visiting site, maintaining stakeholder relationships, identifying problems and solutions, clarifying project scope and schedule, developing and maintaining project documentation, coordinating bids and contracts, supervising project progress, updating stakeholders of progress, obtaining proper approvals and inspections, reconciling project costs during close-out, completing project database metrics, etc.
Supports and assists senior project managers on larger projects, from the planning and design phase, through the close out process. Includes but not limited to visiting site, maintaining stakeholder relationships, reviewing project progress and assisting with inspections, maintaining project documentation and logs, reviewing contract documents and change orders, drafting and reviewing project schedules, budgets, construction documents, estimates, completing project database metrics, etc.
Interfaces and coordinates work with other units, i.e., Parking and Transportation, UCPD, IT, EH&S, Facilities, Real Estate, and Purchasing.
Assists with surveys of existing conditions and recommendations for future project work. Takes initiative to make recommendations while on site visits for other projects.
Manages project reviews for conformance to regulatory requirements and campus policies.
Oversees training for the stakeholders and ensures project is properly closed-out with documentation turned over to the appropriate entity, including warranties, record drawings and Operations & Maintenance Manuals.
Performs organizational, campus and administrative activities not directly relating to projects, including serving on campus committees representing the department or unit.
Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Knowledge of design, construction and maintenance, contract administration, codes and regulations, including full understanding of industry practices.
Knowledge of project management discipline, including skill to work on multiple projects within given constraints.
Skills in problem recognition, avoidance, and resolution.
Skills to develop project scope and documents.
Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including effective negotiation skills.
Good organizational and analytical skills, including generation of metrics.
Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and project management software.
Architecture, engineering, interior design, or project management experience preferred.
AutoCad 2014 experience preferred.
Salary & Benefits
Hourly Salary Range: $34.96 - $36.00
