The California Cybersecurity Training Complex (CCTC) aspires to become the leading supplier of cyber-ready professionals through a comprehensive and collaborative program that spans our polytechnic university and partners with public and private organizations. The goal of the CCTC is to create an environment to provide the resources, tools, and training to educate law enforcement, National Guard Cyber Protection Teams, Civil Agencies, and California Youth in the tactics, tools and technology to assist in the cyber defense of California.
The goal of the Technology, Education and Conference Center (TECC) is a revolutionary concept to design and construct a technology focused educational facility to enhance the Cal Poly brand while providing a reliable, flexible and scalable computing environment for the University and its partners and provide an opportunity for sustaining revenue generation.
Under the general direction of the Chief Information Officer, the Interim Director of Industry Outreach position leads and manages industry outreach for the CCTC and the TECC in Information Technology Services at Cal Poly. This position is responsible for identifying prospects, coordinating and executing visits, and appropriately developing and implementing cultivation strategies and soliciting gifts that support fundraising priorities. In addition, the Interim Director will coordinate marketing and communication for CCTC and TECC events and services such as training, high profile visits by government, military and private industry, and hosted events such as the California Cyber Innovation Challenge. This position represents the CIO and the University by outreaching to alumni, friends, parents, key volunteers, industry partners. The Interim Director will be responsible for communicating effectively and collaborating with on-campus personnel including those in ITS and University Development.
The Interim Director of Industry Outreach formulates and administers policies; reviews, evaluates and adjusts the program and goals for the group; determines methods, techniques, systems and materials required by the program; assesses, develops and applies changes in policies and programs; and represents the program to the campus. The director exercises collaborative leadership and managerial oversight, including operations, budget and talent.
Minimum Qualifications (Staff Only):
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience, including a minimum of three (3) years in outreach, advancement, fundraising or a related field.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, DEGREES, CREDENTIALS: Possession of (or the ability to obtain by date of hire) a valid driver's license.
Working knowledge of business development, marketing, planned giving, or other related professional field, preferably in a higher education, government or technology setting.
Knowledge of the financial structure of donations, to include cash, gifts-in-kind, stocks and securities.
Working knowledge of public sector business development.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with diverse constituencies, both inside and outside the University, including donors, faculty, staff and volunteers to ensure fundraising goals and priorities are met.
Demonstrate excellent skills at developing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; volunteer management, ability to plan, implement, and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines with a finished and effective product.
Ability to initiate a project and carry it to completion while being able to handle many details in a well-organized and focused manner.
Ability to thrive in an environment of change.
Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.

Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines in an environment with heavy phone, email, and walk-in traffic.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, on-line systems, Internet as well as online calendaring and email.
Working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn University infrastructure, policies and procedures.
Experience in a Business Development setting.
Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.
Experience using traditional and marketing and social media to create audience acquisition

Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
Must be able to work flexible hours, to meet deadlines and to attend on- and off-campus events or meetings.
Must be willing to regularly travel during the week and/or weekends to meet with donors and other potential supporters and to attend out-of-town meetings, special events, conferences, and training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
Must be able to work extended hours, occasional holidays, and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.
The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check.
