University Development and Alumni Relations increases support for and enhances knowledge of UC Berkeley through communications, public outreach, and fundraising. The department is responsible for fundraising and donor engagement, and works to strengthen unit development offices by consulting and partnering with campus fundraisers through a variety of central activities and services.
Advancement Operations oversees information technology systems and tools, including CADS, the Cal Advancement Data System, providing essential tools, data and services to support the UC Berkeley advancement community. Advancement Information Management is one of four Advancement Operations units, along with Information Technology, Planning and Analysis, and Advancement Training and Outreach, that develop and deliver centralized business systems and services that support the work of UC Berkeley's decentralized fundraising unitshelping them collaborate and communicate in order to maximize their collective results. Advancement Information Management services include data governance, data management and enhancement, business intelligence and analytics, and customer support.
Serves as expert for campus advancement programs on advancement information privacy and security.
Leads efforts on behalf of UDAR and the VC for compliance and protection of the system and data of record for all campus advancement. Responsible for significant content about advancement data, roles and responsibilities of users in all channels of use, e.g., personal access, sharing data, contracting and redistribution of data to vendors, analysts, etc. Provides an evolving resource for all CADS users of best practices related to the appropriate use and protection of advancement data. Provides customer service and response for questions about policy and compliance.
Ensures campus compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in a complex changing environment. Coordinates a UDAR data security team to develop and oversee a full schedule of compliance events. Works with campus colleagues (CADS Unit Access Coordinators in advancement programs) to educate and promote compliance best practices. Maintains compliance components in all CADS training courses and materials.
Participates with high level management in strategic thinking and planning in policy domain. Develops proposals and recommendations to guide and support a broader strategic direction for the organization.
Identifies policy issues of importance to the Campus which frequently cross organizational lines and require research of state and national organizations; develops appropriate analytical and procedural framework for addressing the issues on the Campus.
Formulates new policies and procedures for implementation on the campus.
Works with the Office of the President and other campuses to attain a coordinated system-wide approach responsive to Campus needs.
Analyzes, predicts and advises constituencies regarding direction in the absence of clear external and internal practices.
Expert knowledge of campus processes, protocols and procedures and external regulatory requirements in policy domain. Advance knowledge of policies/practices and procedures as they relate to data governance and issues of data privacy and security.
Principles of internal control requirements, processes and procedures
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of common campus-specific computer applications.
Advanced analytical/problem-solving skills.
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with and influence all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing.
Advanced skills in all levels of project management.
Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
Background check required.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Salary & Benefits
Salary Range: $75,600-$110,000. Commensurate with experience.
