DescriptionOakes College (https://oakes.ucsc.edu/) at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of part-time Lecturers to teach sections of College 1, the first course of UCSC's Academic Literacy Curriculum, which launches in fall 2018. College 1 is a required core course designed to help students develop academic and civic proficiency in reading and critical thinking. Students will develop understanding of academic ethos and habits of mind and practice that are tied to a sense of belonging and academic success. This course prepares students for success in other UCSC courses. There is no placement exam for College 1; enrollment in this course is not tracked by proficiency in reading, writing, or critical thinking.
