Assistant Professor of Special Education Univ of Pgh at Johnstown-RC - United States-Pennsylvania-Johnstown - (19000038) ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION
The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (Pitt-Johnstown) invites applications for a tenure-stream full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Division of Education beginning August 2019.
Responsibilities: Teaching. special education courses, field practicum courses, and other education courses as needed; supervising special education student teachers; advising education majors; collaborating with local school districts, and engaging in professional development and university service activities. Requirements:
Doctorate in Special Education or a related field; a minimum of three years teaching experience (pre-K to 12) as an educator of students with special needs is required, with preference given to those candidates with teaching and supervision experience at the college level. The candidate must demonstrate expertise in current special education theory and practice, a commitment to excellent teaching, and mentoring student teachers in inclusive environments. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to collaborative models of teacher preparation and content methods knowledge in literacy and mathematics. Experience with practices to promote social and emotional growth and development and/or experience with English Language Learners is desired.
