St. Catherine’s School seeks a Middle School Social Studies/History teacher to begin work for the 2019-2020 academic year. The Middle School History curriculum focuses on helping students develop historical thinking skills, analyze primary and secondary sources, express arguments in writing, engage in constructive discourse, and explore a nuanced understanding of how the past and present inform citizenship in a global society. This teacher will be responsible for creating the curriculum with which to instruct students on the emergence of global and American ideals and cultural heritage. He or she will help students understand and exercise their rights, privileges, and responsibilities as a citizen.

The successful candidate will have a four-year college degree (a major in History, Master’s degree and teaching experience are preferred) and should relate well to adolescent girls. We are particularly interested in candidates with teaching experience in American history/civics. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a passion for the subject are qualities sought in the candidate. Coaching ability is also desirable as coaching is an important part of our school community. |
