Cornell University Press is the first university press to be established in the United States and a leading academic publisher in the humanities, social sciences, and natural history.
Thanks to a grant from the Mellon Foundation, Cornell University Press is seeking a Mellon Diversity Fellow to join our acquisitions department. The fellow will serve in an entry-level position and provide support to one or more Acquisitions Editors in acquiring scholarly books. About the Andrew W. Mellon University Press Diversity Fellowship Program Associated with both the educational mission of universities and the business models of the publishing industry, university presses occupy a distinct space where the values and priorities of both worlds converge. Diversity of all kinds is important to both, as it contributes to the ‘robust exchange of ideas’ key to higher education and helps foster the innovation necessary for evolving businesses. This 14-month fellowship seeks to address the lack of staff diversity in the academic publishing industry by providing underrepresented individuals in publishing real work experience and a network to assist them in their professional development.
