Marin Academy seeks an experienced high school photography teacher for a full-time teaching position that will begin in August 2019. Candidates should have experience teaching photography to high school or college students, and a BFA or MFA in photography is desired. Experience with a black-and-white darkroom, both film and digital cameras, film scanners, digital inkjet printing, and photographic software including Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop CC, and Adobe Bridge is required. We are also looking for a candidate with experience in studio lighting; with a knowledge of the history and contemporary state of fine art photography and photographers, and with the ability to lead critiques. Experience with drawing and painting, ceramics, and design is beneficial. A teaching credential is not required. Candidates with experience teaching digital media (including film or video production, graphic design, or animation) are especially encouraged to apply. MA is in the early years of an ambitious strategic plan which emphasizes interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teaching and learning, competency-based assessment, equity and inclusion. Candidates eager to work toward these strategic goals will be prioritized in our search progress. Our students come from San Francisco, the East Bay, and Sonoma in addition to Marin County. Marin Academy has a block schedule in which classes meet every other day for 75-minute periods.
