Purpose of Position: The Department of Physics, Geology, and Engineering Technology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in experimental condensed matter physics to begin August 2020. We will consider candidates who have achieved ABD status. This new position is a part of our strategy with focus on strengthening basic and applied research, and teaching in Physics at NKU. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both introductory and upper-level undergraduate classes, pursue an active research program that includes undergraduate students and participate in co-curricular departmental activities. The new faculty must be committed to recruiting and mentoring physics, engineering physics and pre-engineering students, especially women and members of underrepresented groups. The Physics program has thirteen full time faculty and approximately seventy undergraduate Physics majors and pre-engineering students and provides students with classroom and laboratory-based learning opportunities. The program also provides ample opportunities for undergraduate research. The faculty of the department include eleven tenured/tenure-track faculty and twelve full-time lecturers.
