The Center for Cybersecurity at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Research Engineerto join an exciting project to audit the online political communication landscape. We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer with ETL experience to help us maintain our existing data collection systems and build new ones as we grow our data collection coverage to power our research into social media misinformation and online manipulation. This engineer must have very strong Linux, Python, Selenium, and SQL skills, and ideally, have experience with NoSQL databases as well.
Maintain existing data collection pipelines using Python, Selenium, and Postgres
Adding collection from new social media APIs and web scraping with Selenium where necessary
Basic database maintenance - adding new tables/fields as required, monitoring backups as required
Standing up a NoSQL document store to clone from our primary database to serve text-focused queries.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
4+ years experience developing ETL
4+ years experience with Python
2+ years experience in a Linux environment
