The School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences is looking for a Postdoctoral Scholar that will work on an ongoing multi-disciplinary project that will integrate fishery participation models with dynamic bio-physical fishery models of West Coast fisheries. This a full-time, 24-month position located at the University of Washington in Seattle, although the location at which work is to be conducted is flexible, and remote work is possible.
The project is funded by the National Science Foundation Coupled Natural Human (CNH) Systems program and is exploring how environmental variability travels through, and is dampened or amplified by, linked social and ecological processes in these fisheries systems and how more integrated management of them can be used to increase resilience and human benefits derived from them.
Responsibilities include the following:
Develop linked bio-economic models of several West Coast Fisheries (Dungeness crab, salmon, albacore tuna, and pink shrimp).
Manage bio-economic models linked by fishery participation, fish stock productivity, and climate variations.
Correlate the relationships between fish stock productivity and climate variation.

PhD or foreign equivalent in Environmental or Natural Resource Economics, Natural Resource Management, Quantitative Fishery Ecology, Statistics, or related field.
Strong quantitative and modeling skills.
Experience in bio-economic or fishery simulation modeling.
Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
Work with bioeconomic or fishery simulation modeling.
