The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the School of Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for an Assistant Professor tenure-track position. We seek a candidate in the field of Instructional Design and Technology with visionary leadership to guide and lead the growth of our fully-online M.S. in Instructional Design and Development through excellence in the areas of teaching, service, and scholarship. Duties will include engaging in appropriate scholarly activities such as grants, presentations, research and publications in refereed journals, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, providing service to the university and the profession, working collaboratively with faculty and administrators to meet accreditation requirements, and developing university/school partnerships to enhance programs. The candidate will also be expected to support a lab and offer open lab hours each week to assist students and faculty with instructional design and technology-related needs

Earned Doctorate in Instructional Design and Technology or related fields such as Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, or Learning Design and Technology or anticipated earned Doctorate in Instructional Design and Technology or related fields by July 2020
Knowledge of both Educational Technology and Instructional Design and Development
Demonstrated potential for maintaining an active research and publication agenda
Documented teaching experience including hybrid, blended, online and distance learning (synchronous and asynchronous environments), and instructional design and development.
Documented experience in the use of one or more innovative and emerging technologies, learning experience design, multiple authoring software technologies, assistive technology, and learning management systems to enhance teaching and learning.
Documented experience with professional standards in the field of educational technology (ISTE, Quality Matters), professional development issues of teachers, media specialists, and instructional technology stakeholders.
Evidence of scholarly activity related to Instructional Technology
Experience working with diverse populations of young and adult learners, from both urban and rural settings, as well as culturally and linguistically diverse populations
Demonstrated potential for building community partnerships
Experience with grant writing and/or management
Expertise in virtual reality games, mobile apps, wearable devices, augmented reality, or other cutting edge technologies
Experience providing consultation in Instructional Design Technology or related fields
