UCR Extension is the continuing and professional education division of the University of California, Riverside offering over 80 programs and certificates to domestic and international students. UCR Extension is seeking experienced professionals to join our instructional team as part-time instructors for adult learners. This program is designed to raise awareness of human trafficking as it relates to children. Courses are delivered online and in-person at UCR Palm Desert campus every first and second Saturday of each month from (8am - 4pm). Courses are currently delivered in a distance-learning format with a potential return to classroom delivery in the future. This is a continuous recruitment for Spanish and English instructors. Courses include:
Introduction to Commercially and Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) Warning Signs and Trauma Traffickers and Social Media Statistics, State and Local Resources
Responsibilities: * Provide instruction in accordance with the established instructional agreement, curriculum outlines and class schedule provided by UCR Extension. * Teach established curriculum on human trafficking approved by the Riverside County Department of Public Social Services. * Facilitate educational workshops to potential victims of human trafficking and/or at-risk populations about the services available in the community. * Work in conjunction with collaborative partners and subject matter experts in order to ensure that training information and statistics are current. * Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students, and clearly outline the grading policies to the course. * Work in conjunction with collaborative partners and subject matter experts in order to ensure that course information is current. * Participate in scheduled orientations, meetings, and mandatory training programs by UCR's established deadlines. * Maintain timely and accurate academic records within the learning management system and submit timely and accurate documentation as outlined in the instructional agreement. * Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct. * Become familiar with and follow UCR Extensions' Instructor Manual and Curricular Guidelines. * Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner. * Remain current regarding the professional body of knowledge in the field of practice. * Complete required administrative required administrative tasks in a timely manner including: completing all hiring paperwork; submitting updated syllabi; signing instructor contract; submitting required textbook orders; communicating audio visual and classroom needs. * Employ culturally competent teaching methodologies in the classroom.
Minimum Requirements: * Must have access to the internet, a personal computer/laptop, and ability to teach online. * Advanced degree in Human Services or a related field, or equivalent experience. * Five years of related work experience. * Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. * Ability to provide instruction online and in-person.
Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with Canvas learning platform. * Experience teaching adult learners. * Experience with curriculum development and course design. * Bilingual English/Spanish. * Ability to teach a wide range of courses in field of expertise. * Commitment to diversity and the University's mission.
Employment Information: Instructional agreements are made on a course-by-course basis at the discretion of the University with no guarantee to teach future courses.
