Latin School of Chicago is looking for a part-time substitute teacher within the Upper School History department from mid-September through the end of October. The ideal candidate will value a student-centered approach to teaching history and be comfortable teaching online in a remote learning environment. Strong candidates will have experience teaching high school students and a master’s degree in education or content field.
Minimally, this teacher will:
Teach 2 sections of Honors U.S. History remotely using lessons plans and schedules provided by the teacher, as well as Zoom to meet synchronously with classes
Collaborate with a small team of teachers on the Honors U.S. curriculum and teaching practice
Hold regular office hours outside of class to provide students with extra help or enrichment
Effectively communicate student performance with parents in written grade reports and assist the primary teacher with parent conferences in early November
Meet weekly with department chair to check-in on student matters and curriculum
