The Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Scholars Program offers a select cohort of talented university students unique access to specially designed courses, lectures, leadership experiences, networking, and assistance with applying for graduate school opportunities and scholarships.
It accepts scholars from among the most outstanding students at the national UAE universities: Higher Colleges of Technology, the United Arab Emirates University, and Zayed University and soon, Khalifa University. The Scholars Program has been developed in close consultation with the Abu Dhabi Education Council, national extant universities and colleges in the UAE, and New York University Abu Dhabi. The Program Goals include:
To offer an unparalleled and rigorous educational, cross-cultural, and leadership-development experience to outstanding and gifted university students in their third or fourth years of college study in the UAE.
To provide access to NYU's global research, educational, and leadership network, to foster greater awareness of international issues and challenges, and to develop in these Scholars the capacity to shape the future.
To prepare exceptional candidates demonstrating the highest merit and motivation for graduate and professional study at institutions of their choice.
The Resident Instructor will provide academic support (including instruction, grading, support in lesson planning, office hours, etc.) to Ambassador Michael Corbin with his course The Challenges of the New Political Economy in the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Scholars Program (SMSP) at NYUAD. The Resident Instructor will also support programmatic activities on SMSP weekends as necessary and participate in selection activities and graduation events, as needed.
hold regular office hours to meet with students;
support instruction, grading and lesson planning;
attend program faculty meetings
provide students regular and prompt feedback, including interim and final grading;
attend a one-day post-program retreat immediately after the program concludes;
provide support that may include assisting with writing letters of recommendation;
participate in and assist with the supervision of students during co-curricular activities;
sustain active and ongoing classroom engagement;
undertake other duties as assigned;
A Graduate Degree in International Relations, Law, Social Sciences or Humanities, (Political Science, Sociology, Entrepreneurship, Economics). A graduate degree near completion would be acceptable.
Higher Education teaching experience
The ability to work with students from the three federal universities in the UAE
Strong English language and critical thinking skills
Familiarity with online instruction
