Assistant Professor of African American History
Texas A&M University - San Antonio
The Department of Communication, History, & Philosophy seeks applications from qualified candidates with a robust research agenda for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning in Fall 2021. Candidates with experience and/or interest in public history and digital humanities are preferred. This position will serve as the departmentâ™s liaison with the San Antonio African American Community Archive & Museum (SAAACAM), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation, and sharing of African American history and culture in the San Antonio region. The successful candidate also will direct student research projects, teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate History courses, and help prepare history and social studies teachers to meet the state of Texasâ™ new requirement for African American Studies curriculum in the high schools. The base teaching load at A&M-SA is 3/3. The Department seeks excellence in instruction, research, and service. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.
