Working/Functional Title Ast Inst/Inst/Ast Prof - Fixed Term Position Summary The Department of Political Science at Michigan State University invites applications for a pool of qualified fixed-term Assistant Professors/instructors to teach one or more undergraduate or graduate-level courses. These positions could be part-time or full time, and vary by semester, depending on the needs of the Department. It is possible that no positions are needed in some semesters. Appointments may be for the academic year or the semester, depending on scheduling needs, and may be renewed based on funding, scheduling need and performance. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and degree status. Applicants in this pool are reviewed when the Department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy as needed within two years and positions would begin as early as August 16, 2020. Responsibilities include teaching courses in any of the following areas: - Social science data analytics and political methodology
- Introduction to American politics
- Public administration and public policy
- Judicial politics, constitutional law, or law and society
- Government, the individual, and liberal democracy
- Risk, power, and society
Successful candidates will come from a discipline in political science, law, public administration or policy, or related areas. Required Degree Doctorate Minimum Requirements The positions require a master’s degree for the rank of Instructor or Ph.D. (or J.D.) for the rank of Assistant Professor.
