Department: Black Studies Classification: N/A Budget Title: Associate Professor Duties: The Department of Black Studies at the State University of New York at New Paltz invites applications for a visiting Associate or Full Professor of Black Studies (3-year term) who will serve as interim department chair, which includes limited summer responsibilities. Having celebrated its 50th anniversary, the Department of Black Studies is one of the first and oldest of its kind in the nation and it seeks a dynamic and experienced scholar to move forward as it builds on a distinguished history. The area of specialization is open but should fall within the within the broad areas of history, humanities, political science, psychology of the Black Diaspora or Africa/African Studies. Appointment will begin in August 2021. Qualifications: Required: Ph.D. in Black Studies, Africana Studies, or another relevant field with a focus on Black or Critical Race Studies as the foundation of research, and chair/director or equivalent experience.
