Internal Job Number: P03787UF Description: World Languages and Cultures (WLC) in the School of Language, Culture, and Society invites applications for one or more fixed-term, non-tenure-track full/part-time Spanish Instructor positions for the 2020-2021 academic year. Some of these appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to an instructional position on an annual basis at the discretion of the Director. Instructors may be needed to teach 1 to 4 on-campus or Ecampus undergraduate courses in Spanish. The primary mission of the OSU WLC program is undergraduate education. The program offers a BA degree with majors and minors in Spanish, French, and German, and a minor in Asian Language and Culture with a concentration in Chinese or Japanese. Courses are also offered in American Sign Language, Arabic, Hebrew, Korean, Italian, Latin, and Russian. The faculty includes 30 members with areas of specialization in languages, cultures and literatures. The School of Language, Culture, and Society includes Anthropology; Ethnic Studies; World Languages and Cultures; and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Studies. The School has a central focus on global justice with emphases in social and environment justice, food insecurity, and Latino/a studies. Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty): Typically requires Master’s degree in discipline appropriate to the field of teaching/instructional tasks. Requirements : MA or MAT in Spanish, Education, or a related field. Evidence of teaching Spanish or related field at the college and/or university level. Native or near-native proficiency in English and Spanish. Availability on short notice. Evident commitment to educational equity.
