Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate psychology courses within one's area of expertise. The incumbent would be expected to teach courses that would include some combination of Introduction to Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Research Methods, Personality, or Psychology of Gender, with the addition of possible courses in their specialty area. Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs.
  • Engage students in scholarly research.
  • Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
  • Contribute to student growth and development including student advising.
  • Support Winona State University’s mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve. Provide service to the university and community including the program, department, college, university and greater community.

    Required Qualifications:

    Minimum:

  • A PhD in Psychology by date of appointment (ABD may be considered).
  • Experience teaching psychology courses at the undergraduate level.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Preferred:

  • Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.
  • Skills/ability to design and integrate technology for enhanced learning and teaching.
  • Experience in teaching Introduction to Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Research Methods, Personality, or Psychology of Gender, or related class at the undergraduate level.
  • Ability to teach other existing courses in the Psychology curriculum within the candidate's area of expertise.
  • Record of an active commitment to research and scholarly publications.
  • Ability and willingness to conduct research as well as supervise student research.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other Psychology faculty.
  • Willingness to serve student growth and academic success through advising or through other means
