Visiting Assistant Professor of Education
St. Lawrence University
At St. Lawrence University, we believe that the liberal arts offer an essential foundation for leadership. We are looking for a colleague to teach courses and mentor students in our graduate program in leadership. A majority of our graduate students are coaches or staff members at St. Lawrence University. The person hired into the position will teach 2 graduate courses and 1 undergraduate course in our educational studies minor each semester. We are looking for someone who can teach courses in the theory and practice of leadership and who can teach courses on the history, theory, or practice of higher education. We expect that the person in this position will bring a focus on social justice to their work, and we are particularly interested in someone with a background in critical race theory, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies and related intellectual frameworks. An ability to teach quantitative methods or supervise master’s projects that use quantitative methods is a plus. We expect candidates will have mentoring and teaching experience at the graduate or undergraduate level. As a department we believe that faculty members should teach from their passions, and the person in this position will have a great deal of freedom to develop the courses they will teach. Because we value having a colleague who is excited to share their passions with our students, we ask that you provide a list of five courses you would like to teach at St. Lawrence along with a brief (3-5 sentence) description of these courses when you apply. We expect this position will be renewed for a second year, and there is the possibility that it will extend beyond this initial two-year period. Interested applicants must apply online at http://employment.stlawu.edu uploading all required materials which are defined in the “special instructions to applicant” section. Applications should be submitted by February 1, 2021. Applications submitted after this date will be reviewed as needed. Questions about the position may be directed to Dr. Jeff Frank, Search Chair, at (jfrank@stlawu.edu). All offers of employment are contingent upon the finalist successfully passing a background (including criminal records) check.
