Assistant Professor of Race and Urbanism

Position DescriptionThe School of Urban Studies at the University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Race and Urbanism. This is a full-time position with a 9-month service period that begins in September 2021 (Autumn Quarter). We are seeking applicants in any discipline who have research interests as described in the qualifications section. The individual hired for this position will integrate inclusive pedagogical techniques into teaching/learning, teach innovative classes in undergraduate and graduate programs in the School of Urban Studies, actively participate in service to the university and profession, and contribute to a diverse and inclusive community of faculty, staff, and students. Established in 2001, the School Urban Studies currently offers degrees leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainable Urban Development, a Bachelor of Science in Urban Design, a Master of Arts in Community Planning, and a Master of Science in Geospatial Technologies, along with a certificate program in Geographic Information Systems. The School of Urban Studies currently enrolls approximately 130 undergraduate and graduate students and has 12 full-time faculty.
