Description: The Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education in the College of Education at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a tenure-track, nine month faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor or as defined by the North Carolina A&T State University Faculty Handbook. The successful applicant will begin August 2020, and will be expected to assume a central role in teaching graduate level courses in Adult Education, advising students, and enacting an explicit research agenda. The department seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and creative scholar-practitioner committed to quality teaching, student success, strong research, and scholarly productivity. The Master’s degree program in Adult Education prepares professionals to become leaders for adult learners in business, for-profit and non-profit organizations, community colleges, and four-year institutions of higher education. The program also follows professional standards devised by the Commission of Professors of Adult Education. Courses are offered in the evenings and at times are offered online to accommodate the professional development needs of adult learners. Primary Function of Organizational Unit: Through its commitment to civic engagement, transformative research, and creative scholarship, the Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education produces leaders who are critical thinkers and social justice advocates capable of transforming organizations and institutions to maximize human potential. The Adult Education program is designed to equip students with the skills to become effective educator in a variety of formal, nonformal and informal educational settings. This program aligns with the vision and mission of the College of Education, which is a learning centered organization that prepares educational and human service leaders who create, use, and share knowledge on equity, access, and advocacy in local, national, and global communities.
