Position Summary: The College of Agriculture and Life Science is a pioneer of purpose-driven science and Cornell University's second largest college. As a service and maintenance department of AgriTech, the responsibility of the Buildings and Properties Unit (B & P) is to provide responsive maintenance, engineering and special services in support of our institution's vital research. The mission is to maintain and expand the campus and its facilities to the highest possible standards, while providing dependable and cost effective support services to those carrying out the research. B & P is a service organization dedicated to the success and satisfaction of Cornell AgriTech's faculty, academics, staff, students and campus visitors. Under general supervision, use skills in carpentry, masonry, and painting to maintain, add to, or improve the Cornell AgriTech buildings, properties, and related facilities. Work as member of a multi disciplinary shop performing a variety of routine maintenance tasks, minor modifications and projects. Support unit's mission by assisting with custodial, warehouse, utility plant, grounds, and other trade shops as required. Support research programs with custom fabrications, renovations and relocations. Learn and follow safety and work environment regulations, policies and procedures (lead, asbestos, fall protection, confined space, etc.). Participate in Cornell's Respirator Use Program. Set up and tear down for special events as requested. Fill out required paperwork and computer entries related to job function. Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications: Carpentry trade school degree or Union certification. Two years experience in carpentry painting in a maintenance facility. Utility plant operator experience. Trained in use of forklift and man lift. Available to be trained for asbestos handler certification. No visa sponsorship is available for this position. No relocation assistance is available for this position.
