The candidate must have knowledge of Sociology and will be expected to enhance the teaching mission of the Sociology undergraduate major through development and rigor of on-campus courses, distance courses, and the Sociology undergraduate degree program. The candidate will also be expected to enhance graduate student teaching training
The department has more than 400 undergraduate majors and 40 sociology graduate students with strong ties to the African American Studies Program, Gender Studies Program, the Social Science Research Center, the National Strategic Planning & Analysis Research Center, and the Southern Rural Development Center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaches undergraduate and graduate courses based on need of both units. Performs service activities and serves on various departmental, college, and university committees. Such responsibilities will be assigned by the Department Head of Sociology or a designated representative.
A Ph.D. in Sociology.
ABDs or degree pending considered (all but DISS):
Previous experience with instruction and course development. Previous experience with both lower and upper level Sociology courses. Previous experience with both on-campus and online courses. Ability to work with Sociology graduate students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidates should be a dynamic educator with teaching experience preferred. Candidate should have experience with curriculum development and both on-campus and online instruction.
