Germanna is seeking a Vice President for Academic Affairs and Workforce Development.Reporting to the College President, this position provides executive-level leadership and direction for Academic Affairs and Workforce Development while supporting the mission of the College. The incumbent is responsible for the overall planning, management, evaluation and improvement of the credit and non-credit instructional divisions, academic support services, learning resources and learning technologies. Ensures compliance with standards of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and other accrediting bodies. The position is responsible for fostering academic excellence and innovation; providing guidance in the development of the curriculum; planning and implementation of academic, workforce, and College policies; management of academic services; and overseeing the overall budget for all related units. Prepared to lead Germanna's efforts towards a digital transformation and connection to underserved communities in our service area. Responsible for building internal and external relationships to further the mission of the College, the position works closely with business and industry partners in the development and implementation of instructional and certification training programs. This position serves with other executives as liaison with outside agencies, community organizations, and other constituencies within the College. General Description of Responsibilities and Duties: •Plan, direct, administer and assess credit and noncredit instructional programs of the College; provide leadership for instructional programs and courses with a continuing focus on innovation, curricular and pedagogical relevance and excellence •Expand College One-front Door programs collaboratively with other areas of the College •Serve as a member of the President's Cabinet and advise President on matters of academic and workforce as well as other College-wide issues •Provide quality oversight of service delivery, program coordination, evaluation of programs and activities, and achievement of performance goals and objectives •Oversee all the degree, certificate, and program offerings and noncredit workforce programs and contract training as well as academic support units, including the Library, Tutoring, Instructional Technology, and the Center for Teaching and Learning •Develop new programs and options based on environmental factors and College planning •Anticipate and respond to the educational needs of the College's student population including connecting with underserved communities •Support and maintain effective relationships among instructional divisions, student services, and the College administration, faculty, staff, and students through participation in shared governance and commitment to academic freedom and integrity •Work to build capability in employees by attracting, developing and retaining, qualified, skilled, diverse faculty as well as academic and administrative support personnel •Make recommendations on faculty promotion •Work with College executives to support the recruitment and retention of students while collaborating closely with Student Services and Administrative Services units •Establish and promote appropriate linkages between continuing education, workforce and credit-based programs to achieve synergy and develop new programming •Promote and practice workplace behaviors in support of College diversity activities •Provide leadership in the incorporation of instructional technologies and the College's ongoing digital transformation to improve student learning outcomes •Serve as the College's primary representative to Virginia Community College System in all matters of academic affairs and workforce development •Develop, recommend and implement short and long range strategic operational and instructional plans and related policies/procedures •Provide leadership in guiding, planning, implementing, evaluating and modifying administrative processes and operational procedures •Ensure that the educational goals related to the College's strategic plan, and other Board-adopted plans related to education are implemented •Ensure compliance with standards of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and other accrediting bodies •Ensure compliance of state and federal employment laws and VCCS and College policies and procedures •Ensure that human and financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to ensure the College is poised to take advantage of opportunities •Direct the development and administration of budgets and long-range plans for assigned functions, direct the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, materials, and services •Review and monitor budgets and long-range plans and implement revisions to ensure institutional sustainability •Direct the timely and accurate preparation of records, reports, summaries, plans, and projections related to Academic Affairs and Workforce Development •Oversee preparation of private, state, and federal grant applications and reporting •Develop and maintain strong relationships with administrators of the service region's high schools and assure quality program articulation, dual enrollment and early College with area high schools and pathways and transfer to other institutions of higher education •Support mutually beneficial partnerships between the College and business/industry, not-for-profit organizations, military, and other educational institutions •Attend and conduct a variety of meetings, conferences, workshops and other activities •Direct and serve on assigned committees and task groups •Represent the College in relations with local, state, and federal agencies •Maintain effective public relations with the larger community. •Delegate responsibility and assign authority to subordinates for representing the College's interests in the local community and at state or national meetings •Review and evaluate information, factual summaries and recommendations from work groups and team leaders Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values of Germanna Community College.
