Dept Marketing Statement With an annual budget over $4 million dollars, the department consists of 21 permanent faculty including four endowed chairships who teach and do research in both the social and natural sciences. This research is frequently supported by funding from granting agencies and provides employment opportunities for numerous graduate student researchers (GSR) and postdoctoral scholars. We have 3 adjunct professors and 52 affiliated faculty. We administer the appointment process for over 40 temporary staff (including several visiting foreign scholars) on an annual basis. The department offers undergraduate and Ph.D. degrees including combined majors with biology, earth sciences, and economics, and a concentration in Agroecology. We also have a robust internship program (667 completed in 2014-15), and field study opportunities (593 students enrolled in field study courses in 2014-15). There are currently 50 graduate students and approximately 685 proposed and declared majors in the program.
Sub-units within the department are the Center for Integrated Spatial Research (CISR) and the Kenneth S. Norris Center for Natural History (NCNH). We are also closely affiliated with the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems (CASFS). We also work closely with staff in the UC Natural Reserve System whose offices are in space assigned to our department.
The person in this role will assist the department with curriculum and instructional matters, facilities and operations, and outreach.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule Salary Information: Salary Range: $26.80 - $28.06. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.

Job Duties 50% Core Function: Curriculum & Instructional Support
Update and maintain quarterly course, schedule, and instructor information, and run reports.
Assist with course revisions and new course applications
Work with Curriculum Committee to maintain and organize planning documents
Assist with academic recruitment and hiring
Work with Dept Manager to coordinate summer session
Work with Undergraduate Program Coordinator on scheduling and room assignments
Assist with or serve on a committee
Collect course syllabi and maintain syllabi database
Administer quarterly course, instructor, and TA evaluations (SETS)
Help organize DRC accommodations with the DRC office. Serve as department point of contact.
40% Core Function: Facilities and Operations Support
Assist with budget management
Coordinate quarterly department awards
Oversee ENVS' classrooms and conference rooms. Assist with Space Committee.
Coordinate events throughout the year
Update and maintain department website, touchscreen kiosk, file servers, and Google Drive.
Oversee ordering for class/lab supplies, office supplies, events, and other department purchases
Oversee front office and mail room
Oversee ENVS' room key inventory
Oversee ENVS' instructional equipment inventory
Serve as ENVS' first point of contact for non-advising related communications
Provide backup in other departmental offices as needed
10% Core Function: Outreach
Track donations and oversee thank you responses to ENVS donors
Assist advising office with social media
Assist with alumni outreach
Bachelor's degree in higher education or related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
Solid verbal communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and the general public.
Effective written communication skills with all levels of the organization and the general public.
Excellent organizational and time management skills sufficient to work independently and set priorities in a work environment with frequent interruptions and distractions.
