Clinical Assistant Professor
University of Tennessee, Knoxville
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville College of Social Work invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, 12-month faculty position as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Doctor of Social Work (DSW) Program. Our program uses an online model with a brief in-person residency each summer. We are looking for a proven graduate instructor who has strong clinical practice experience, understands the needs of working MSW-level practitioners, and has experience with graduate education. We also seek a leader who can help the College move forward in our commitment to equity, inclusive excellence, and social justice. It is an exciting time to join the College of Social Work and the University of Tennessee, a time of possibility and change. The College is under the leadership of a new Dean, Dr. Lori Messinger, and a new Chancellor, Dr. Donde Plowman, who together embrace a vision of the College as a national leader in engaged scholarship and a strong collaborator across the university and the country. The person hired in this position would become part of setting the priorities for the next chapter of our College and the DSW Program. The DSW Program is currently undergoing a redesign and preparing for a doctoral accreditation process being launched for DSW Programs for the first time by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). We are looking for an applicant who can become part of the team supporting our widely respected, advanced clinical doctoral program. The online intensive DSW Program enrolls more than 60 working professionals and prepares graduates for advanced clinical practice and leadership. Clinical faculty members develop and revise courses, teach courses in the DSW curriculum using our online model, mentor DSW students, and provide supervision of DSW research projects. This is a non-tenure track position. With over 700 students enrolled in undergraduate, MSW, DSW, and PhD programs in Knoxville, Nashville, and online, the College is preparing highly qualified social workers to address areas of need across the state, the country, and the globe.
