Status: Part Time Location: 21st Street Campus Reports to: Head of MS Position Overview Teach two grade levels of Middle School Drama classes. Grade levels are TBD but will be either be 6th & 7th or 7th & 8th. Classes run Sept. 2021 – early June, 2022. 8 hours a week. Direct one afterschool play production September 2021 – January 2022 (with some preliminary organizing during the summer months). Essential Job Functions 1. 6th & 7th grade Drama classes: Teach beginning Acting Technique and related skills (voice and speech, movement, character work, etc.) and Improvisation. 8th grade Drama classes: Same as 6th & 7th but on a more advanced level. 6. Stay in close communication with administration regarding students emotional and physical well-being. Non-essential (Additional) Job Functions Highly desirable is the capacity to teach any of the following: Singing, Dancing, Shakespeare, Viewpoints, Clowning, Stage Combat and / or Theater of the Oppressed.

Physical Demands This job requires a lot of time on one’s feet engaging with highly energetic children ages eleven to fourteen. Moving chairs, benches and other light furniture and props is part of the daily routine, as is facilitating movement work, warm-ups, etc. with the students.
