The Academy of the Holy Cross is accepting resumes for a Social Studies Teacher for the 2021-2022 academic year. The Academy of the Holy Cross, a Catholic college preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross since 1868, is dedicated to educating young women in a Christ-centered community which values diversity. Using skills and techniques consistent with the established curriculum, the Social Studies teacher will facilitate the development of critical thinking skills in the social studies discipline. These skills include causation, comparison, argumentation, interpretation, documentary analysis and synthesis. Teach various courses within the Social Studies discipline including World History, Geography and US Government, but possibly in future years, additional courses such as US History and various electives Demonstrate effective management skills Prepare and follow course syllabi and objectives in accordance with the established scope and sequence of the department curriculum Use a variety of instructional strategies to provide excellence to students of all ability levels Collaborate on pacing and major assessments with fellow teachers Evaluate student work and maintain up-to-date records of student assessments and grades Maintain a pleasant and productive class environment that is student-centered and conducive to learning Maintain professional competence through in-service activities and in self-selected professional growth activities Perform other duties as assigned |
