The Department of Art & Design at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, one-year term faculty position in the area of Graphic Design. The position begins on August 23, 2021. The individual hired will teach lower and/or upper division courses.
Responsibilities also include: working with student organizations, and engaging in service activities in the department, college, campus, community, and professional organizations.
Required qualifications:
• MFA or MDes, in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or Visual Communication Design from a regionally accredited institution by 8/1/2021 . • Minimum of two years college level teaching experience in a Mac-based lab environment or Mac laptop classroom (may include TA experience) • Demonstrated expertise in current digital design tools and evidence of skill in traditional-and-interactive design • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion and/or social justice.
Preferred qualifications: • Professional experience in graphic design • Expertise in two or more of the following areas: interactive, mobile, social media, marketing, typography, time-based media, video, design research, packaging design; command of contemporary design discourse, critical thinking, and/or graphic design history; familiarity with design-system thinking; user interface and experience (UI and UX) design; responsive web design; development and prototyping across mobile and desktop devices; experience with dynamic web design development using WordPress, Drupal, and other content management systems (CMS).
