The Shalhevet Scottsdale School seeks a full-time Humanities Teacher and Support Specialist to work with high school students who will be engaging in a hybrid learning model. The position is located in Scottsdale, AZ. The teacher will work in consultation with the Shalhevet High School Principal based in Los Angeles, CA. While applicants with Humanities backgrounds are preferred, applicants with STEM backgrounds will be considered. In this role, the teacher works collaboratively to support a theme-based, enriching curriculum. The teacher, in a support and advisory role, works in conjunction with Shalhevet High School Los Angeles teachers to provide content support and cultivate a joy for literature and literary analysis through a variety of genres. Additionally, this position will monitor student progress, provide content support, implement assessments, and offer student, parent, and teacher support. This role works closely with administration, teachers, and parents to provide consistent individualized and small group support in multiple content areas. Primary Responsibilities: - Communicates and facilitates across stakeholders and campuses (students, teachers, staff, families, and administrators)
- Responsible for supporting students as students engage in dynamic online lessons with a special focus on building writing and research skills as well as critical thinking and communication skills
- Responsible for curricular and lesson support, which engage a variety of levels and differentiate appropriately to meet the learning needs of all students
- Co-designs and iterates systems and structures of learning support that are in alignment with the mission and vision of the school
- Provides direct support for students, individually or in groups, to help them understand their strengths and strategies, partnering with them in goal setting
- Familiarity with hybrid learning models
- Exceptional written communication and listening skills
- Experience reviewing psychoeducational testing, developing related student accommodation plans, and tracking progress over time preferred but not required.
- Experience working with middle and high school age students and parents preferred
- Flexibility and creativity in working in a dynamic environment where new ideas and mistakes are embraced
