Cornerstone Christian Academy in Philadelphia currently seeks a Classroom Teacher. An effective teacher at CCA has the knowledge, commitment and skills to provide excellent and equitable learning opportunities for all students. He or she strives to support educational, emotional, social, and spiritual development, to close achievement gaps, and to prepare students for success in high school and beyond. An effective teacher facilitates mastery of content and skill development, and provides differentiated instruction for students, including those who are not achieving mastery and those who need acceleration. An effective teacher creates an environment for students to develop the skills and interests necessary to be lifelong learners, as well as for democratic and civic participation. Effective teachers communicate high expectations to students and their families and utilize diverse strategies to engage them in a mutually supportive learning environment. Because an effective teacher understands that the work of ensuring meaningful learning opportunities for all students cannot happen in isolation, he or she engages in collaboration, continuous reflection, and ongoing learning and leadership within the profession. Effective teachers at CCA strive to realize these goals through a Christian worldview by providing a culturally sensitive, loving and caring environment.
Qualifications:In addition to a degree from an accredited college/university, preferably in education, teachers at Cornerstone Christian Academy (CCA) are required to possess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, exemplary Christian character, a love for children, excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and a cooperative spirit. All full-time teachers are required to hold or obtain within two (2) years of employment certification with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Although prior teaching, volunteer service or validated ministry to children or youth in an urban setting is desired, these are not mandatory.
