Initial Review Date (IRD): 04-21-2021 Dept Marketing Statement Using skills as a seasoned, experienced professional, applies the full range of knowledge and strategies related to learning skills for students. Works independently, receiving guidance in unusual or particularly complicated situations. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Tutoring, the Tutor Program coordinator will be responsible for the implementation, and coordination of the tutorial programs including the selection, hiring, training and supervision of undergraduate course-specific tutors and Writing Tutors that provide peer-learning opportunities for over a third (approximately 6000 students) of the undergraduate student population in all academic disciplines. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Tutoring, the Tutor Program Coordinator will establish and carry out procedures that follow University and United Auto Worker (UAW) policies for over 200 undergraduate tutors each quarter. The Tutor Program Coordinator will also be responsible for compiling data, writing reports, representing the Tutorial components on campus wide committees, and working closely with staff and faculty. Working with the Assistant Director of Tutoring, the Tutor Program Coordinator will ensure that all UCSC students receive effective academic support while placing special emphasis on the learning needs of students of color, first-gen students, transfer students, and students registered with the Disability Resource Center on campus as well as creating programs that address success gaps on campus. Learning Support Services offers small group course specific tutoring, Modified Supplemental Instruction (MSI), writing tutoring, and drop-in services for all undergraduate students at UCSC. Programs are grounded in educational theory that supports the academic development of students through these peer-led services that address and minimize educational equity issues. LSS provides academic support across all five divisions: Arts, School of Engineering, Humanities, Physical and Biological Sciences, and Social Sciences, employing over 400 peer tutors each year and serving nearly 7,000 undergraduate students. Learning Support Services works closely with the Education Opportunity Program (EOP), Services to Transfer and Re-Entry Program (STARS), Disability Resource Center (DRC), Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Initiatives, and the colleges to increase the success rate of non-traditional students. Learning Support Services has a permanent operating budget of approximately $900,000.
