Synapse School seeks an aspiring education professional to join us in August 2021 as a Middle School Humanities Associate Teacher. Associate Teachers teach in the classroom alongside lead teachers and participate in all aspects of instruction, planning, and daily school life. Associate Teachers also receive broad support for their personal and professional growth through weekly seminars, extensive professional development opportunities, and immersive classroom experiences.
We are looking for an aspiring middle school teacher who loves middle schoolers, is highly collaborative, loves innovation and design, has a growth mindset, and wants to be part of an exciting team of forward-thinking educators looking to do big things.
Assist with teaching and classroom management
Assist with curriculum planning and assessment
Work with small groups of students
Plan, lead, and assess a once-a-week innovation class
Collaborate with lead teacher to conduct parent-teacher conferences
AN IDEAL CANDIDATE WOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
A strong interest in working with middle schoolers
A thirst for collaboration and team-oriented work
A willingness to take on new challenges
The ability to adapt to a quickly changing environment
Creativity, flexibility, a sense of humor, and a love of learning
Teaching experience preferred
A bachelor’s degree is required. Ideally in education, history, English, or a related field.
WORKING CONDITIONS MAY INCLUDE:
Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time.
Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation.
Ability to lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
Dexterity and physical condition to maintain a vigorous work schedule and meet standards of physical and mental health.
