Minimum Qualifications: Master's in the ethnic studies field OR A master's in American Studies/Ethnicity, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Central American Studies, Latin American Studies, Cross Cultural Studies, Race and Ethnic Relations, Asian-American Studies, or African-American Studies ORPossess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area OR the equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee. Desirable Qualifications: Recent experience effectively teaching Ethnic Studies courses, in higher education. Demonstrated commitment to the discipline of Ethnic Studies through involvement in academic, professional and/or community organizations and activities. Willingness to examine and remediate one's instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially marginalized and other disproportionately impacted students. Experience using a variety of emerging technologies, including training and/or certification in online instruction. Experience with innovative and creative course design, instruction and evaluation, including service learning. Knowledge and application of the major epistemological considerations informing the discipline of Ethnic Studies, including relevant history and contexts of the field, contributing theories, and pedagogical approaches.
